Plans to build a prison remand centre in Melbourne were announced at a press conference at Parliament House last week.

Victorian Minister for Community Services Mr Williams said the prison would cost about 16 million.

Exercise c) Speaker: Portrait artist, Terence Philby

Portrait Artist Terence Philby said the Hendrix Prize for Portraiture was awarded to “dull orthodox paintings.”

“Truly creative work” does not get awarded the Prize, Mr Philby said at his exhibition launch in Carlton last night.

Exercise d) Speaker: Convicted Murderer John Beaumont

Convicted murderer John Beaumont said he was “innocent” at the Victorian County Court this morning.

Beaumont was sentenced to 25 years in jail for stabbing a security guard in June.

“I’ve been framed by the cops,” Beaumont said.
