Hazelwood mine closure: complex ramifications

The LaTrobe Valley’s Hazelwood coal fired power plant has a reputation as one of the world’s dirtiest coal power stations. It’s been running for 25 years and supplies one quarter of Victoria’s energy. But French corporation Engie has announced Hazelwood will be closed in March next year.

Reporter Rochelle Kirkham takes a look at the complex ramifications of the plant’s closure.
